Troy University is hosting Spring Trojan Day for prospective students to explore the academic, athletic and extracurricular opportunities the university offers.
At 10 a.m. in Trojan Arena, there will be a browse session for students and their families to learn more about student life. It will have informational tables for various campus organizations and departmental programs, as well as financial aid and residence and housing life.
Parker Harris, an undeclared freshman from Montgomery and co-recruitment chair for Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, said that he is ready to share his excitement for Troy and the future of his organization with potential students and families.
“Alpha Tau Omega is approaching our 10th year on Troy’s campus and our 150th year nationally, so one of the most exciting things to look forward to is what new members can bring to our fraternity,” Harris said.
“From intramural players, to the next leaders of Troy’s campus, we have high expectations that there will be men who are ready to help take the fraternity to new heights.”
John Kline, an Institute for Leadership Development professor, said that he, along with his leadership students, aims to engage visitors and be representatives for Troy University.
“We want to be the face of Troy University by approaching the students and getting them interested in Troy and the leadership department,” Kline said. “We ultimately want them to come to Troy no matter what.”
Davis Gamble, junior multimedia journalism major from Beaugaurd and editor-in-chief of the Palladium yearbook, looks to inform students about the Palladium and the connections they can make by getting involved with the publication.
“We are looking for staff members who have initiative and drive, and we encourage them to get connected with us,” said Gamble.
“As a whole, we represent the Hall School of Journalism and Communication, inform students about Troy University’s yearbook, and promote others to join our staff.”
There will be a presentation given by the office of admissions beginning at 11 a.m.
A campus tour, given by Trojan Ambassadors, will start at noon and feature dormitories and several academic buildings.
Optional house tours for sororities, fraternities and campus ministries will start at 2 p.m.
Attendees are invited to participate in a complimentary tailgate lunch at 1:30 p.m. Troy baseball games begin at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. against Alabama A&M at Riddle-Pace Field.
